Why are veterinary exams important for my pet’s health?

Some conditions have no warning signs or symptoms until it’s too late. This is why it’s important to bring them in for a routine exam which would allow us to diagnose and treat any underlying conditions or pain they may be experiencing. Pets are masters at hiding their pain but they won’t need to if we catch it early and work together to create a plan that puts their health and needs first. The first step is as simple as scheduling your pet’s appointment once a year and we’d be happy to send you a reminder when they are due for their next wellness checkup.

What happens during a veterinary exam?

Your pet’s wellness exam will start with one of our technicians asking you a series of questions that help us better understand their overall health. These questions will touch on several things including their behaviour, diet, and lifestyle. The technician will also get a base set of vitals that include weight, heart and respiratory rate, and temperature (just to name a few). The veterinarian will then come in to do the physical exam; they will look at their skin, eyes, ears, teeth, etc, as well as palpate their abdomen and joints. Based on the combined history and physical exam, the veterinarian can then make recommendations regarding your pet’s health.
